MESSAGE FROM SETH VILENSKY, MONTEFIORE PRESIDENT & CEO: COMMITTED TO CARING
With the 2016 election behind us, many people have asked, ‘what does this mean for Montefiore’? This is an excellent questions, given that the cast majority of our revenue comes from government sources and healthcare policy and regulation dictates much of our operations. At this point, I can honestly say that it is too early to prognosticate on specific policy implications. We just don’t know exactly how the new administration will act on issues important to eldercare.

There are many ways to get the word out about the wonderful work of Montefiore and The Weils. We are always looking for creative ways to engage our community in volunteer work, advocacy, fundraising and the like. With the help of a committee of lay leaders, we have com up with something that does it all – we have created a new event that will debut October 2017 called Shining Star CLE.

THE POSH NOSH CAFE – A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN EAT, VOLUNTEER AND PLAY!
Tucked away in the lobby of Montefiore is the Posh Nosh Cafe – a little retreat where residents can have a “nosh” while visiting with family and guests or where staff can take a break from their busy workday. Delicious, freshly-prepared taco salads, barbecue chicken quesadillas or soft-serve ice cream sundaes (dispensed from our new soft-serve machine thanks to donors Lynn and David Heiman) are just a few of the many offerings you can choose from on the menu.

Keynote address by Alex Johnson speaking on
“”The Impact of Martin Luther King’s Legacy on Self Fulfillment ”
Dr. Alex Johnson will deliver the keynote address entitled, “The Impact of Martin Luther King’s Legacy on Self Fulfillment” as part of Montefiore’s annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:30 pm in Montefiore’s Maltz Auditorium (One David N. Myers Parkway, Beachwood, OH).
As president of Cuyahoga Community College, Dr. Alex Johnson focuses on strengthening the college’s 50-year mission of providing high-quality, accessible and affordable educational opportunities and services. Since becoming president in July 2013, he has promoted access, equity, success and completion for the nearly 60,000 credit and non-credit students who attend Tri-C’s four campuses and other locations throughout Cleveland suburbs.
Dr. Johnson currently serves locally on the boards of the United Way of Greater Cleveland, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, IdeaStream, Playhouse Square, MAGNET, and the Greater Cleveland Partnership.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including The Frank G. Jackson Visionary Award, Pittsburgh Business Times CEO of the Year, and the Simon Green Atkins Distinguished Alumnus Award from Winston-Salem State University.
In addition to Dr. Johnson’s presentation, there will be special musical performances by members of Bedford High School’s Madrigal Singers under the direction of Gary Kaplan and by Montefiore’s Keynote Staff Choir.
