Join our active volunteer corps of devoted men, women and teens who are committed to using their time and talents to enhance the quality of life for Montefiore residents. Each volunteer works with staff in special programs, activities, events and projects.
Whether you give an hour a week or an hour a month, you will be rewarded in many ways through your relationship with residents, staff and other volunteers.
You can volunteer by yourself, with a friend or in a group. Groups can volunteer year-round or for a specific project such as a holiday program.
Although volunteering has its own rewards-special moments with residents and new friends-we also publicly recognize our volunteers for their devoted service twice a year. We salute our volunteers during National Volunteer Week and at our annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.
Many of our volunteers belong to the Montefiore Auxiliary, which provides special services to residents and patients. The group operates the MoMart Gift Shop and Posh Nosh Café and uses the proceeds to support Auxiliary-sponsored activities.
Make Someone Happy – Put a Smile on Your Face and Theirs by Volunteering at Montefiore!
Immediate help needed in the following categories:
Posh Nosh Café Kitchen Helpers and Cashiers— If you are familiar with the food service industry or just enjoy working in customer service, your help would be welcomed at our snack shop. Kitchen help and cashiers are needed seven days
MoMart Gift Shop Sales Help — Use your fashion sense to assist in our boutique–especially weekends and evenings.
Other areas of volunteering include:
Volunteer Ambassadors — Help us welcome new patients to our Post-Hospital Care Center and review their admission packet with them.
Evening Volunteers (6:30-8:30 pm) – Friendly visits or play card or board games with residents — from Checkers to Go Fish and everything in-between.
Office Work — Would you like to gain clerical experience by filing, copying, data entry, and shredding? Develop lifelong skills that will be helpful in any work environment.
Bubbe’s Kitchen — This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for food enthusiasts! The leader will choose a simple recipe in which all the residents can participate in making together.
Activities Assistant — Do you enjoy hands-on activities with seniors? Work with the Activities Department to play games with residents, create arts and crafts projects, play an instrument for the residents, or even produce a theatrical production.
Seamstress — Lap blankets and walker bags are always useful for our residents. If you can sew, knit or crochet, we welcome your assistance with this volunteer need which would not require you to volunteer on-site.
Friendly Visitors — A special caring person is needed to bring love and joy of living to lonely Montefiore residents. This therapeutic interaction reduces the isolation and depression experienced by many residents of long term facilities and provides individual attention that helps residents maintain their maximum level of functioning.
Hospice Volunteer — Work directly with hospice patients and families to offer comfort and support.
Sabbath Greeters — On Friday afternoons, help residents welcome the Sabbath by leading blessings in resident rooms, lounges and dining rooms.
Computer Tutor — Help residents stay connected to their families and friends by email and Skype. Share your computer skills with others to make a significant difference in their lives.
Create Your Own Volunteer Opportunity – Share your hobby or talents with others. We can develop a program based on your skills and expertise!
We will train you and work with you in all areas – no experience necessary.
