The First Step

Making the decision to move into a community environment is a big change for most people. At Montefiore, we try to make the transition easier by providing all the information you need in a concise and easy to understand format. We know the attention and guidance we offer families when they are considering a move to Montefiore make all the difference to them.

Long-term Care

Montefiore provides individualized levels of care in a safe and secure home-like setting, based on resident needs. Services include specialized nursing care and therapies for those who are physically challenged or have AlzheimerÕs disease or related disorders.

Medical and Nursing Care

Montefiore has a team of internists who provide medical care and treatment to residents. Residents may use their own physician (with special arrangements) or use one of Montefiore's doctors.

For Russian Residents

Montefiore's Russian-speaking resident support program is tailored to allow these residents to connect with the past by surrounding them with familiar Eastern European culture as well as Jewish tradition. Our goals for the program include enhanced social interaction, improved intellectual and emotional well-being, reduced anxiety and agitation and greater enjoyment and pleasure. Some of the activities include lunches at Russian restaurants, showing of Russian movies and celebrating Russian holidays.

We offer the following services for Russian residents:

• Friendly visits by Russian speaking volunteers
• Exercise classes in Russian
• Special programs, services, and events

Kosher Dining

Because food is so important to a good quality of life, Montefiore makes an extra effort to prepare and serve meals and snacks that are both tasty and nutritious. Montefiore is a kosher facility and all dining rooms, kitchens and pantries are kosher certified under the supervision of Cleveland Kosher offering the highest level of kashrut. Dietary laws are observed. We serve three meals a day to all residents and snacks in the evening. Special diets are accommodated.

Food may be brought into Montefiore and eaten in your room using disposable plates and utensils. You may bring a small refrigerator to keep in your room. No shellfish or pork products allowed.

Activities

The activities department, staffed by our professional staff and assisted by volunteers, offers a variety of activities to support a resident's individual spirit, self-expression and choice.

We help residents promote their physical, cognitive, social and emotional health and well-being. We also provide supportive measures through one-on-one visits for residents who are unable to benefit from a group activity.

Our activities include weekly entertainment, ice cream socials, a variety of Judaic programming, healing services, coffee groups, arts and crafts with art therapists, Bingo, intergenerational programs, holiday dinners and celebrations, current events, field trips, library and computer lab and classes, birthday celebrations, movies, patio picnics and much more.

Religious Programming and Activities

Our Jewish traditions are woven into the fabric of daily life at Montefiore and spiritual activities play an integral role. We are committed to meeting the religious and spiritual needs of our residents. We celebrate the Jewish holidays and offer weekly Friday night and Saturday morning Shabbat services. We encourage family members and friends to participate in any of our services and celebrations.

Our full-time rabbi is available to talk with you and offer spiritual guidance and counseling to you or a family member.

We offer a variety of Judaic programming from baking challah for Shabbat in Bubbe's Kitchen's to making menorahs for Chanukah. Our rabbi, Judaic arts coordinator or special guests lead discussion groups on Jewish culture, history and religion. Our "Temple-to-You" program brings rabbis and cantors from different synagogues to Montefiore for holiday celebrations.

Posh Nosh Cafe
From chicken salad platters and vegetarian pizzas to muffins and root beer floats, the Posh Nosh offers something for every taste. It's a great place to meet family and friends and socialize. The Posh Nosh is staffed by volunteers and run and managed by the Montefiore Auxiliary.

MoMart Gift Shop
Located in the lobby, this shop has a number of moderately prices gift items, clothing, jewelry, toys, purses and accessories. Run and managed by the Montefiore Auxiliary, volunteers are courteous and encourage browsing by residents and family members. Gift-wrapping is available.

"Memories of the Sea"
Our custom-designed art glass water sculpture, located in the atrium, reminds us that art and technology together can bring us much joy and pleasure. "Memories of the Sea" uses the age-old technology of glass blowing to bring memories of underwater adventure to life. It is approximately 10 feet wide and 8 feet high and consists of stainless steel, glass and copper elements.

Aquarium
This 17,000 pound, eight-foot-tall underwater ecosystem is located in the heart of Montefiore's newly renovated atrium. The aquarium consists of several colorful types of saltwater fish including clown and trigger fish. This state-of-the-art ecosystem is a beauty for all to enjoy. Visitors of all ages will take pleasure in watching the extraordinary sea life and the uniquely life-like colorful coral reefs.

Outdoor Gardens and Courtyard
Our beautifully landscaped gardens offer residents, visitors, families and friends wonderful encounters with colorful foliage, sculptures and a stunning granite fountain. This season-less courtyard is handicapped accessible and serves as an outdoor retreat complete with dining patio, umbrella tables and chairs to encourage socialization and intergenerational activity between residents and children, who will enjoy the new wooden climbing gym and slide. Shade trees and paved pathways for strolling, lush flower beds, bird baths and bird feeders all make this outdoor courtyard inviting, wonderful, and a great place to get together.

Insurance Coverage

Montefiore accepts Medicare and Medicaid in addition to numerous other insurance plans. (Insurance coverage based on individual policy benefits.) Please ask our admissions coordinator for information regarding specific insurance plans and coverage.
