Hospice Bereavement Services
& Support Groups
The hospice bereavement program offers emotional and spiritual support during the grieving process. In coordination with Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel, Montefiore offers ongoing bereavement support groups to enable grieving family members to share their experiences with other people who are enduring their own personal loss.
Journey Through Grief
To experience great grief is to have experienced great love; however, most people are not ready for the intensity of feelings that engulf them when a loved one dies. The pain, confusion, anger and depression of the grieving process can be frightening. We wish to help.
Journey Through Grief, a six-week bereavement education and support group, free and open to the community, will begin in November for adults suffering from recent loss. We will provide materials and discussion on a variety of topics to assist participants in the grieving process.
Miriam Katz, LISW-S, will facilitate the group. This non-denominational education and support group is sponsored by Berkowitz-Kumin Bookatz Memorial Alvin Schreibman Bereavement Support Group Fund of The Montefiore Foundation.
Annual Hospice Memorial Service
In remembrance of your loved one, Vinney Hospice of Montefiore hosts an annual memorial service or families who’s loved ones who had a loved one experience hospice in their end-stage of life.
